New York,  NY - As exciting and enjoyable the Cosmos Copa has been over the years, it’s a grueling marathon of soccer coverage. Even though, I’m not competing in the tournament, I’m moving around trying to cover as several matches simultaneously taking place.

On top of that, I’m battling the weather and possible dehydration and sunburn. Nevertheless, I enjoy covering the Cosmos Copa and each year that it arrives, I begin physically and mentally prepare myself for it. Last December, Chris Dobens of TotalFootblog.com hung up his boots and retired covering the New York Soccer Scene.

His retirement was a tremendous loss to local soccer as well as to ThisIsCosmosCountry. Along with his contribution, his insight and breakdown of events made it easier for us to decide who was writing what. Despite writing for different sites, we our styles meshed well for this site. As a result, we would offer different styles and opinions of the same event we covered.

Even though Dobens remains retired, I am ecstatic that he has agreed to volunteer his time and photograph the Cosmos Copa for us. His presence gives me someone to talk too as well as provide breakdown matches and tournament observations for upcoming articles. With that said, here’s some photos Dobens took this weekend. Enjoy!
