New York, NY - Hours before the New York Cosmos battled Minnesota United to a 1-1 draw, several members from the Five Points went to Pier 40 for the 2014 NYC Supporters Club Cup on Saturday morning.
As reported on NYCSupportersClub.com, hosted by Downtown United Soccer Club, “the annual one-day charity tournament brings together supporters groups of international professional football teams. All of the event proceeds directly support inner-city kids through free soccer programs and scholarships.”
For the day, the Five Points went 0-0-4 where they were outscored 10-3 against Liverpool (2-1), the Toon Army (1-0), Boca Juniors (3-1) and eventual 2014 NYC Supporters Club Cup winners, Millionarios NY (4-1). Regardless of the losses, the support and enthusiasm was there. And with enough time and practice, I look forward to future tournaments…
