NEW YORK - Wednesday night, the New York Cosmos battled FC Edmonton to a scoreless draw.
For the first time in the Fall Season, the 1-2-2 Cosmos didn’t lose at Shuart Stadium. With 4,524 spectators, attendance was solid. With their next two matches on the road, the Cosmos need to earn six out of a possible six points road trip before returning home for their August 23rd showdown against Minnesota United FC.
On a positive note, Cosmos goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer and the rest of his teammates recorded a shutout at home for the first time this season. Sadly but surely, we also learned that Marcos Senna’s penalty kick wasn’t as effective as Fred Flintstone’s bowling skills. Despite the Cosmos inability to finish, Wednesday’s match was exactly what the Doctor ordered.
Fantastic weather, clear skies, fireworks and plenty of life both on and off the pitch. So on Wednesday night, I decided to take a stroll through Cosmos Country. Overall, I had fun and I’m already looking forward to the next home match. With that said, enjoy the photos.
